Decolorization of reactive azo dye by fenton and photo-fenton processes in aqueous solution: The influence of operating conditions, kinetics study, and performance comparison

ABSTRACT. In this study, the effect of Fenton and photo-Fenton processes, which are advanced oxidation processes that use hydroxyl radical for decolorization Novacron Black from aqueous solutions, on was investigated. Optimum levels initial pH, temperature, hydrogen peroxide concentration, dyestuff iron concentration were determined. Initial Fe2+ most effective experimental parameters in with processes. While 200 mg/L, H2O2 100 solution pH 3, temperature 20 °C, a efficiency 82.1% obtained process at 5 mg/L Fe2+, while 2 94.6% obtained. Upon Black, had higher removal than process, even low concentrations. From data various concentrations non-linear method used to determine kinetics Black. Finally, an economic analysis carried out compare differences operating costs between processes.
